The phrase BMS smartwatch can mean different things, so TechRexOS uses the clearer idea: a smartwatch as a fast control surface for building automation and selected Building Management System functions.

Why a watch can make sense in building automation

A wearable is useful when the user needs immediate access to a small number of actions while moving through a building: status, scenes, doors, lighting, selected HVAC functions or alarms.

MQTT and building automation

TechRexOS is designed around MQTT communication, making it suitable as a front-end for custom gateways or automation layers that expose selected BMS functions through MQTT.

Not a replacement for the engineering workstation

A smartwatch should not replace a full BMS operator station. Its role is faster access to carefully selected functions and information.

Local-first operation

For building control, predictable local communication can be more important than adding another cloud dependency. TechRexOS is being developed with that local-first direction.

Consumer watch, broader platform potential

TechRexOS Watch is first presented as a Smart Home product, but the same wearable-control concept can extend into smart buildings and custom automation environments.
